The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown

I loved The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and especially Inferno. I could do without The Lost Symbol, and I hated Origin. Add this to the hated set of the Robert Langdon series.

I really wanted to like this, being that it's been almost 8 years since Dan Brown published Origin and 12 since Inferno. Alas, the ultra slow beginning and supernatural elements of this one were difficult to get over. It honestly resembles Da Vinci and Inferno a little too much in that we have Langdon being accused of murder in a foreign country with a overzealous law enforcement officer AGAIN.

I did not understand the science here either. Are we studying the brain or some para-psychological subset of the mind? Ghosts? ESP? Parlor tricks? And what about the suspended animation dead body keep the brain alive thing? Walt Disney anyone?

Worst though was the weird sort of Halloween campy characters that were supposed to represent the human consciousness and Prague's darker side at the same time.  The ended up being like Mardi Gras meets Rocky Horror in my mind, and I could not get over it.  I absolutely hated the female lead Katherine too.

Overall, a no from me.  It seems, based on other reviews, this is a love it or hate it.
